Thunder head to LA to play the Lakers
Winners of eight of their past 10 outings the Western Conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder play the Lakers at the Staples Center on Sunday afternoon.
It's the final contest of a six-game road swing for the Thunder which has seen Oklahoma City pick up victories over the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings while losing to the Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors.
Friday Kevin Martin came off the bench to score 24 points for the visitors at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento as the Thunder eased to a 105-95 triumph over the Kings.
Kevin Durant also had 24 points as Oklahoma City featured a much more balanced scoring lineup with five players in double figures.
Durant and Russell Westbrook are good enough to carry the Thunder deep into the playoffs, but Oklahoma City need Martin and Serge Ibaka to contribute or it will be another disappointing season.
The Lakers snapped their four-game losing streak on Friday when they easily dismissed the Utah Jazz 102-84.
A much more balanced LA side saw Dwight Howard score 17 points and grab 13 boards and Kobe Bryant fall one rebound short of a triple-double. Pau Gasol was effective coming off the bench hitting 7-of-8 from the floor in 25 minutes of work as five Lakers were in double figures.
Six hours after the Lakers play the Clippers will take to the court at the Staples Center for the backend of their home and home series with the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Clips lost their fourth consecutive contest on Saturday when they were edged 101-100 at the Rose Garden in Portland as Nicolas Batum and Damian Lillard each scored 20 points for the home side.
The Thunder are 7500/1 to win this season's NBA Championship while the Lakers can be backed at 10000/1.
