Nets and Knicks meet in Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks each won on Sunday and now contest the Nets' postponed season opener at the Barclays Center on Monday.

New York remained a game ahead of the Nets in the Atlantic Division standings with an emphatic 121-100 triumph over the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden. Carmelo Anthony led the way for the hosts hitting 10-of-18, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, for a game-high 29 points. Raymond Felton added 10 assists to go with 14 points and J.R. Smith came off the bench for a double-double grabbing 10 boards and adding 15 points.

Less spectacular, but just as efficient, were the Nets who broke open a tight game with the Portland Trail Blazers in the fourth quarter to run out 98-85 winners. Joe Johnson led all scorers with 21 points in 38 minutes of work for Brooklyn who won their second in a row after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. There's no rest for Detroit and Portland who are straight back into action after their defeats as the two sides meet at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Monday.

The Clippers return to the Staples Center in LA to host the New Orleans Hornets following a disappointing 1-3 road trip that saw three consecutive defeats to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks after opening so promisingly with a win in San Antonio. The Hornets are coming off an 18-point rout in Denver on Sunday evening as New Orleans lost their seventh in a row.

The Nets are 7500/1 to win the NBA Championship while the Knicks are 1000/1 and the Clippers are 7500/1.
