Reigning champion Novak Djokovic is confident that he has prepared well for the defence of his Australian Open crown in Melbourne.

The world number one teamed up with Ana Ivanovic to help Serbia reach the Hopman Cup final in Perth, with Djokovic content that his form was coming good during the tournament.

He told reporters: "I've been trying to play my best tennis and prepare for Melbourne - the last few days I have been striking the ball better.

"The last few matches were really good, I'm happy with the way I'm playing and another eight days of really good practice and I'm fit for the Australian Open."

Djokovic is 1/1 to complete a hat-trick of victories at the Australian Open, having defeated Andy Murray (2011) and Rafael Nadal (2012) in the last two finals.

Murray is 5/2 to make up for finals losses in two of the last three years by being crowned champion in Melbourne, while Roger Federer is 9/2 to secure a fifth Australian Open title.

Meanwhile, Britain's Laura Robson suffered disappointment in her final tournament before the action in Melbourne.

Robson was beaten 6-4 7-6 by American Sloane Stephens in the first round in the Moorilla Hobart International.
