Triple blow for Everton

Everton's injury problems appear to have deepened after James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and Sylvain Distin were ruled out of the Europa League trip to face Krasnodar.

Toffees boss Roberto Martinez said in his press conference on Wednesday that there was a chance all three could travel to Russia but has opted to leave them at home.

Republic of Ireland midfielder McCarthy is thought to be suffering with a hamstring injury but he should be fit for Sunday's game with Manchester United.

Coleman could also return at Old Trafford this weekend having missed the last three games but Everton have opted not to risk him against Krasnodar, who are 7/5 to beat Martinez's men. The Toffees are 11/5, with the draw 12/5.

Distin and Steven Pienaar will also remain on Merseyside, with youngsters Tyias Browning, Luke Garbutt and Ryan Ledson making the trip instead.

Martinez will hope to have his senior squad members available for the weekend's clash with Manchester United having recently lost Kevin Miralles to a hamstring injury.

The Belgian is facing an extended spell on the sidelines with the problem and Martinez is frustrated to lose a player who has started the season well.

"His game has gone from strength to strength and the way he had started the season had been really positive,” said Martinez. “What he did at the World Cup pushed him to the next level.

“Last season he had a very important role and this season he had started in the same manner. He was scoring goals and being a real threat in everything we do going forward.

“We are going to miss him so that is why it is so important that the medical team work well with his rehab and make sure that when he comes back, he comes back refreshed and stronger."

Everton are 8/15 to win their Europa League group after their opening win over Wolfsburg. The Germans are 11/8 with this week's opponents Krasnodar 1212/1.
