And Buffon is hopeful that he and his team-mates will be able to progress further this term, as he told reporters: "I hope that, compared to two years ago, we've got more belief that we are a great side.
"I hope that, compared to two years ago, we've all improved, both in terms of our game and in our conviction.
"I don't know if we're stronger than Borussia or not, but I know that we're curious to see what we are worth.
"Everybody here wants to measure ourselves with clubs who have been at the top level in Europe for a few years, and Dortmund are one of those."
Meanwhile, Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp is eager to see his side maintain the form which has seen them win their last three games in the Bundesliga and move celar of the relegation zone.
He added: "We are motivated to show our worth and it is time for us to pull out our claws. Juventus possess plenty of experience and quality. We'll require a big effort to get through to the next round."
Dortmund can be backed at 1/1 to secure a draw in Turin on Tuesday evening, with the German outfit 1/1 to reach the quarter-finals and 1/1 to go on and win the Champions League for a second time.
