Allen: It's still in our hands

Joe Allen is convinced Liverpool will reach the last-16 of the Champions League even after the frustrating 2-2 draw with Ludogorets in Sofia.

After the Reds had come back from a goal down to lead 2-1, the Bulgarian side grabbed an 88th-minute equaliser when Svetoslav Dyakov flicked on a corner and Georgi Terziev was on hand to head home.

However, Liverpool will qualify for the knockout stages of the competition if they beat Basel at Anfield next month even though they have only won one and lost three of their first five Group B fixtures.

We all believe we can do it.

Real Madrid have already confirmed their place at the top of the group and are 1/1 to win the Champions League outright this season.

"It's still in our hands and that's a big bonus for us," Allen told the Liverpool Echo. "We all believe we can do it. We're at Anfield and we'll be calling on all our supporters to get behind us and make it a seriously tough night for Basel.

"When we got the fixtures at the start of the campaign we would have targeted the Basel game as one where we needed to get three points and that hasn't changed.

"There's an element of frustration because we were ahead in the game until so late on. It was disappointing to concede a goal like that but the bigger picture is that our Champions League dream is still alive."

Liverpool entertain Stoke City at Anfield on Saturday in the Premier League and are 1/1 to win the match 2-0. They can be backed at 1/1 to qualify for the last-16 of the Champions League.
