Villas-Boas let go by Tottenham

Tottenham have dismissed under-pressure manager Andre Villas-Boas in response to Sunday's 5-0 Premier League mauling by Liverpool at White Hart Lane

Spurs were well beaten by fellow top-four chasers Liverpool and the club's fans made their feelings known at the final whistle as boos and jeers rang out.

The London outfit have targeted a top-four finish this season and are currently seventh in the table but performances against their key rivals have been a cause for concern.

In November they were thrashed 6-0 by Manchester City and twice surrendered a lead to draw 2-2 with Manchester United at the start of December.

Sunday's heavy loss to Liverpool appears to have cost the former Chelsea boss his job and Spurs have now confirmed Villas-Boas has departed.

"The club can announce that agreement has been reached with head coach, Andre Villas-Boas, for the termination of his services," said a Spurs statement.

"The decision was by mutual consent and in the interests of all parties."

The market for the next permanent Spurs manager is on bet365 now and former England boss Fabio Capello is priced at 20/1, while Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is 25/1.

Spurs are priced at 66/1 to secure a top four finish and 2/5 to bounce back from their defeat to Liverpool by seeing off West Ham in their Capital One Cup quarter-final on Wednesday.
