Pellegrini targets trophy haul
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini insists his side can win all four competitions they are involved in this season.
City welcome Championship side Blackburn Rovers to the Etihad Stadium in an FA Cup replay on Wednesday and will host Watford in the fourth round if they progress.
Pellegrini's side are almost certain to be involved in the Capital One Cup final, where they will take on either Sunderland or Manchester United, having thrashed West Ham 6-0 in the first-leg of their semi-final contest.
City are a point adrift of league leaders Arsenal in the Premier League and face a daunting Champions League last 16 tie with Barcelona.
City can be backed at 1/50 to win the Premier League and 1212/1 to win the Champions League, and Pellegrini insists the aim is to win all four titles available to his side.
"It's difficult [to win all four] but we'll try," he said. "It's important to have the mentality."
No team has ever managed to win the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup in a single season.
The Chilean boss insists the goal is to land all four trophies but he feels the best way to be successful is to take each game as it comes, while admitting City will need a bit of luck in regards to injuries if they are to challenge on multiple fronts.
"We know that during the season, with injuries and the amount of games you have to play, it is very difficult," he added.
"That's why nobody has done it before. But I think we must have the mentality to try to do it.
"But we're not thinking of winning the four competitions, we are just thinking of winning the FA Cup tie against Blackburn.
"Then on Saturday we will try and beat Cardiff in the league.
"There are going to be five or six teams fighting for the Premier League until the end."
Pellegrini has won league titles in Ecuador and Argentina but has only managed to land the now defunct Intertoto Cup since moving to Europe, having failed to secure any silverware during his brief stint with Real Madrid or his time at Malaga.
City can be backed at 200/1 to win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Capital One Cup.
