Sunderland have completed the signing of Yann M'Vila but Leroy Fer's proposed move to Wearside has fallen through after he failed a medical.
Fer was expected to join the Black Cats from QPR after the two clubs had agreed a season-long loan deal for the 25-year-old Dutchman.
However Fer's agent, Rob Jansen, confirmed: "Leroy currently has an injury which means he is not immediately available. He is now trying to get fit at Queens Park Rangers."
It is the second time that Fer has seen a transfer fall through due to a failed medical after his £8.5million switch to Everton collapsed in the summer of 2013 due to a knee problem.

Meanwhile, France international M’Vila has become Sunderland's fifth summer signing after agreeing to move to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent deal. The 25-year-old is currently with Russian side Rubin Kazan.
Dick Advocaat is also being linked with a loan swoop for Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj.
The 20-year-old endured a frustrating time last season after bursting onto the scene under David Moyes in United's ill-fated 2013/14 campaign.
Sunderland, who are 1/1 to finish in the top half of the Premier League table in 2015/16, get the new season underway with a trip to Leicester City on Saturday.
They are 1/1 to win the clash, while the Foxes are 1/1 to triumph and the draw is priced at 1/1.
