Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez hopes to win his place back in the England squad after finally returning to action following his serious knee injury.
The 26-year-old former Burnley star, who has not played since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament 16 months ago, has been involved in Saints' pre-season games and scored a fine goal in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Espanyol.
Rodriguez will hope to feature for Ronald Koeman's side in the Premier League opener against Newcastle United on Sunday but he also has international ambitions again and wants to add to his solitary England cap at some point in the future.
"You have got to aim high and for me the highest is to go and represent your country," he told Sky Sports News.
"That is the main thing. It was the best achievement of my career so far and I want to replicate that. I've got a lot of hard work to do and hopefully it will come if I keep working hard.
"You always have to look the highest you can but it's a long way to go and I'm just taking it week by week and by each game."
Southampton are 1/1 to beat Newcastle United on 9th August, while Graziano Pelle is 1/1 to be their top scorer in 2015/16 and Sadio Mane is 1/1.
