Colback wants maximum for fans
Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback is hoping for all three points in today's Tyne-Wear derby and says he knows just what it means to the fans.
The 22-year-old, who is making his fourth appearance in the fixture today at the Stadium of Light, admits that both sides would be happy with a draw due simply to the fear of losing but wants the Black Cats to give the home supporters much more to shout about.
Speaking ahead of the clash, which Sunderland are 9/5 to win, Colback said: "Fans would take a draw because that's how intense it is and a defeat to them is unthinkable.
"But hopefully we can give them that win.
"There seems to be that added bit of pressure because defeat at home isn't an option.
"Against other teams, if you get beaten at home, the fans will be disappointed but they can live with that."
Martin O'Neill is hoping that Phil Bardsley may make a comeback from an ankle knock – while winger James McClean is expected to make a return.
Titus Bramble is a doubt (hip) and Lee Cattermole completes a three-game ban.
For Newcastle, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini and Tim Krul are all back in the fold having returned to training this week. Danny Simpson is nursing a hamstring injury, but could feature.
Newcastle are 13/8 to win the clash and can be backed at 500/1 to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
