Jordy Clasie moved from Feyenoord to Southampton this summer.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman fears that Jordy Clasie may miss the start of the Premier League season after the midfielder sustained a hamstring injury against Vitesse Arnhem.

Saints eased to a 3-0 win against the Dutch side in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round clash on Thursday but Clasie limped off during the second half.

Koeman said after the match: "It's possible Jordy may miss the start of the Premier League season. We have to wait. A hamstring injury is always dangerous."

We were a bit lucky to get a third goal with a mistake from Vitesse late on.

On his side's display, Koeman added: "It's never over in football but of course the final result is a very good one."

Graziano Pelle opened the scoring in the first half after being set up by Sadio Mane before Dusan Tadic scored a penalty after Mane had been tripped in the area on the stroke of half-time.

After the break Juanmi created the chance for fellow substitute Shane Long to head home the third goal.

Southampton are 1/1 to win their opening Premier League match of the campaign against Newcastle United on 9th August, while Pelle is 1/1 to be their top scorer in 2015/16 and Mane is 1/1.

Koeman added: "I wasn't happy with the second half. We were a bit lucky to get a third goal with a mistake from Vitesse late on. We had a difficult start and took time to settle in to the game but we controlled the game well after that."
