Benitez dismisses Benzema Arsenal talk

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has insisted Karim Benzema is staying at the Bernabeu despite ongoing speculation linking the striker with Arsenal.

The Gunners have been mentioned as possible suitors for the France international for several weeks and reports over the weekend suggested boss Arsene Wenger was ready to offer £40million for the forward.

However, Benitez has attempted to put an end to the speculation by insisting the 27-year-old is happy at Real and he expects him to remain a key part of his squad for the upcoming campaign.

He said: "My answer is that I think Benzema is going to stay with us. I'm very happy with him. There's no reason to think that he's going to go."

Benitez has also had to deal with claims Gareth Bale will leave the Spanish giants this summer and return to the Premier League, with Manchester United again linked with the former Tottenham winger in a mega £80million deal recently.

But Benitez is also adamant that the Wales international remains committed to Real and he does not expect to lose Bale before the transfer window closes.

"Gareth is a huge player for us and I know that he's happy," the former Liverpool manager added. "I'm not going to talk about offers. Everything is well and he's going to have a good season with us I'm sure."

Real are 1/1 to win the Champions League this season, while Arsenal are on offer at 1/1.
