Injured striker Sergio Aguero will not be panicked into making a return which could scupper Manchester City's Premier League title dreams.

The Argentinian forntman has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring strain against Barcelona in the Champions League on 12th March.

I do think to myself if something happens now, I will lose the rest of the Premier League season and the World Cup.

It is the third time this season that Aguero has been hit by the same injury and he is determined not to rush back until he is 100 per cent fit this time around.

City host Southampton this Saturday lunchtime and will be going all out for a victory to keep the pressure on leaders Liverpool at the top of the Premier League pile.

Aguero has an outside chance of making the bench, but it is more likely he will be ready for the title showdown with Liverpool at Anfield the following week.

The Citizens' leading scoring, who has bagged 26 goals, this term, insists: "With this recovery I am trying to do my best to be able to play again, but I cannot do it in a hurry.

"I do think to myself if something happens now, I will lose the rest of the Premier League season and the World Cup."

City are available at 4/11 to defeat the Saints on Saturday and 5/4 to keep a clean sheet, while the men from Manchester can be backed at 1/50 to win the Premier League title this season.
