Carlo Ancelotti wants more from his Real Madrid players.

Carlo Ancelotti watched his Real Madrid side destroy Deportivo La Coruna 8-2 at the Riazor on Saturday and claimed they can still improve.

Los Blancos had already slipped off the pace in the La Liga title race following back-to-back defeats at the hands of Real Sociedad and reigning champions Atletico Madrid.

However, having got their game back on track in midweek with a 5-1 Champions League win against Basel, they took that form into Saturday's domestic game with a comprehensive victory over newly promoted Depor.

We have shown our quality and we have players with great skill...we need to improve our consistency and our balance.

Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick, James Rodriguez was on target while both Gareth Bale and Javier Hernandez chipped in with two goals apiece in the rout.

The win moves Real Madrid up to sixth in the table - three points behind Barcelona, who could stretch their lead at the top if they maintain their 100% winning start away at Levante on Sunday night.

However Ancelotti is adamant that his players can still get better, despite them scoring 13 goals in two matches.

He told Marca: "We played with great intensity and we tried to do well in all phases of the game.

"We have shown our quality and we have players with great skill...we need to improve our consistency and our balance."

Real, who are 1/1 to win the Primera Division title, will look to secure another three points against Elche at the Bernabeu on Tuesday. They are 1/1 to pick up the win, while the visitors are 1/1 and the draw is 1/1.
