Wilshere demands big improvement

Jack Wilshere accepts that England need to improve on their display in the 0-0 draw against the Republic of Ireland if they are to beat Slovenia on Sunday.

Roy Hodgson's side laboured to a goalless stalemate in Dublin but will need to be much sharper if they are to continue their winning habit in Euro 2016 qualifiers.

"Overall I think we are a little bit disappointed," said Arsenal midfielder Wilshere. "At times we looked like we were going to create something but then it broke down. The way we've been playing we know that we are better than that.

I think it will be a different game against Slovenia, but we do have to be better.

"I think it will be a different game against Slovenia, but we do have to be better. We'll watch the game over the week and we'll learn from where we went wrong and work on it in training. Then hopefully we'll get the three points we need next weekend."

Wilshere has endured an injury-ravaged season but returned to action for the Gunners in the closing weeks of the campaign and is expected to play some part in England's match against Slovenia.

England are available at 1/1 to edge to a 2-1 victory against Slovenia in Ljubljana and are 1/1 to win Euro 2016 outright. Meanwhile, Sunday's match is 1/1 to end goalless.
