Lennon ready for Bolton challenge

Neil Lennon accepts that he has a big job on his hands, having been confirmed as the new manager of Championship strugglers Bolton Wanderers.

The Trotters currently languish down at the foot of the table with just one win in 11 games, a run which was enough to cause the departure of Dougie Freedman.

I've got a big job on my hands, but that's the challenge.

Former Celtic boss Lennon has been called on to try and turn the situation around and he is under no illusions about the size of the task in hand, while relishing the challenge to get things right.

He told BBC Radio 5 live: "I've got a big job on my hands, but that's the challenge. I'm very excited about that.

"My objective is to put right the results that have gone against us recently and get them playing a style of football that will please the Bolton fans.

"I've left one great club with a great history and I'm going to another club with a great history.

"They are great football people, but they are hurting with the situation the club finds itself in at the minute. They have entrusted me to change that and I am very lucky."

Bolton are back in action on Saturday when they head South to take on Birmingham City, who have also made a stuttering start to the new campaign.

Wanderers are 1212/1 to be relegated this season, with Birmingham 1212/1 and Blackpool 1/10000.
