Berg shown the door by Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers have sacked manager Henning Berg and his backroom staff after a run of just one win in ten games since the Norwegian took charge at Ewood Park.

Former Rovers defender Berg succeeded Steve Kean at the start of November, but has been unable to move the club in the right direction, as they currently sit down in 17th place in the Championship table.

This decision has been taken following a very disappointing sequence of results.

Blackburn have lost five of their last six league games and were beaten 1-0 at Middlesbrough on Boxing Day.

A short statement from the club read: "Blackburn Rovers has announced the departure of manager Henning Berg, assistant manager Eric Black, first-team coach Iain Brunskill and goalkeeping coach Bobby Mimms with immediate effect.

"This decision has been taken following a very disappointing sequence of results."

Rovers' next outing sees them cross the Pennines to take on lowly Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday, with the Tykes currently one from bottom in the table.

Blackburn are 6/4 to win in South Yorkshire, with the draw 23/10, while Rovers are 9/4 to keep a clean sheet, which would be their first in the league since late October.
