Miller wants Jets to build momentum
Scott Miller wants Newcastle Jets to hit the ground running in Tuesday's season-opening clash with Perth Glory at Magic Park.
Going into his first season in charge of the Jets, Miller says although the A-League campaign doesn't start until October, their FFA Cup tie against last year's beaten finalists is a significant fixture.
The Hunter Valley club want to put in a performance they can build on in the league campaign, as they seek to turn the page on last season when they finished bottom of the table with just three wins.

Newcastle are 10000/1 to win the FFA Cup.
"I'm getting a real feel for how we're going to progress," said Miller. "The intensity hasn't changed, if anything it has increased over the last two or three weeks and I'm enjoying being in an environment that allows me to do that.
"I said to players the other day there are three key factors we need to consider, winning, performance and momentum for the season. Momentum is a big thing and if we win that match or we put in a performance that warrants winning, I'll be happy.
"Importantly upon reviewing the game I want to see the principles and structures we've put in place over that last three to four weeks."
Seven new signings are available to Miller, including former Adelaide United favourite Nigel Boogaard. But another recruit, striker Andy Brennan, is cup-tied as he has already played in the competition for South Melbourne.
The Jets are likely to include several youngsters in their squad, having registered Braedyn Crowley, Nick Cowburn, Andrew Pawiak and Michael Kantarovski for the competition.
Newcastle are 2/1 to beat Perth, who are 13/10 with the draw 12/5.
