Slovakia international Filip Holosko has signed for Sydney FC as their new overseas marquee.
The 31-year-old joins the Sky Blues having spent the last nine years playing in Turkey, winning the Super League with Besiktas in 2008/09 and earning two Turkish Cup winners' medals.
He has signed a two-year deal to replace Marc Janko as the main target man for Graham Arnold's side. Janko was a huge success in his one season with the club, winning the Golden Boot with his 16 goals, but was released at the end of the season.
He comes with a top pedigree having played for a massive club in Turkey and brings a lot of international experience to the squad.Graham Arnold
The Sky Blues, who are 1/1 to win the Grand Final, also lost Bernie Ibini to Belgian side Club Brugge, so signing a striker was Arnold's top priority during the off-season.
Club chairman Scott Barlow said: "Graham Arnold was very specific in the type of attacking player he wanted to bring to Sydney FC. He has found that in Filip and we are delighted to have been able to secure him for the club."
Arnold described Holosko as a multi-functional player who can play anywhere across the front-line.
"He comes with a top pedigree having played for a massive club in Turkey and brings a lot of international experience to the squad," added the coach.
Arnold said Holosko, has scored eight goals in his 65 games for Slovakia, had the style of a strong and fast player who would excite the club's fans.
The striker was released by Besiktas at the end of last season having previously slipped down their pecking order and been loaned out to Caykur Rizespor, where he scored twice in 25 games.
Sydney FC are 1/1 to win their first match of the A-League season against Melbourne City, who are 1/1 with the draw 1/1.
