Anderson eyes back-to-back successes

James Anderson has predicted that England will play better in Australia over the winter than they did in this summer's 3-0 series success against the Baggy Greens.

The two teams have been evenly-matched for long spells over the last seven weeks, apart from the one-sided second Test at Lord's, but England have risen to the challenge at vital times.

Indeed, they came close to winning the fifth Test at The Oval, only for bad light to scupper their chances of securing the series 4-0.

We know we can go to Australia and play even better.

England required 21 runs from the last 24 balls when umpires Aleem Dar and Kumar Dharmasena decided to end proceedings, to the fury of the home fans.

However, Lancashire star Anderson has already turned his attention towards the next series, with the first Test in Australia scheduled to start in Brisbane on 21st November.

He said: "We know we can go to Australia and play even better. It feels pretty good (to win the Ashes). It would have felt even better if we could have got the last few overs in there but I am delighted to have won the Ashes. Today was fantastic for the crowd.

"As it got closer and closer we really thought we could do it but unfortunately the light didn't hold out. We're going to cherish this moment because it doesn't happen very often."

England are 125/1 to win this winter's series, with Australia available at 1/500 and the draw 28/1.
