Senior quarterback Mason Rudolph signed off his Oklahoma State career as the Cowboys defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 30-21 in the Camping World Bowl.
Rudolph, who will be an interesting prospect for the NFL to evaluate, completed 21-of-32 for 351 yards and two touchdowns, but questions will remain for him, and Baker Mayfield for that matter, due to the quality of the defenses in the Big 12.
The lack of recent success of signal callers from the Conference will also be cited and while Mayfield appears to have overcome some of the objections, the general consensus at the moment is that Rudolph is a second or third round pick.
The scouting combine and private workouts will ultimately help to place the quarterback, but it would also not be a shocker if a team at the bottom of the first round liked the overall production.
Friday sees the Rose Bowl match up of USC against Ohio State played instead at the Cotton Bowl.
With the Rose Bowl one of the national title semi-final games this year, and featuring Georgia against Clemson, the traditional Pac-12 vs. Big Ten match up is superseded and the stars aligned for the Trojans and the Buckeyes to meet in Arlington.
USC quarterback Sam Darnold is currently slated to play with numerous questions as to whether the young man puts his name forward to the NFL Draft in 2018 or elects to stay in school.
Darnold is widely tipped to go first overall to the Cleveland Browns, something that may be part of his decision making process.
Alabama Crimson Tide are 9/5 to win the NCAAF title with Oklahoma Sooners 7/2 and Clemson Tigers priced at 1/1.
