ACC Tournament starts in Brooklyn
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn is the scene on Tuesday, as the ACC Tournament gets underway with three first round match ups.
Boston College will meet Georgia Tech for the right to play North Carolina State in the second round, the winner of Syracuse and Wake Forest moves on to face North Carolina while Notre Dame and Pittsburgh do battle, with the Hokies of Virginia Tech awaiting in Wednesday's final game.
For Syracuse and Notre Dame, the stakes are the NCAA Tournament as both teams are projected on the outside looking in when it comes to an at-large bid.
Conventional thinking is that the Orange and the Fighting Irish each have to win at least two rounds in the ACC Tournament to push their way into the Big Dance and it might be even more for Notre Dame.
Wednesday Florida State and Louisville are on tap with the top seeded Cavaliers awaiting the victor in the quarter-finals.
The Cardinals too are on the bubble watch and it would not be a shock to see Louisville, Notre Dame and Syracuse all miss out this season.
The Blue Devils of Duke are ranked #2 in the ACC Tournament and will face either the Hokies, Irish or Panthers.
With Virginia and Villanova considered locks for #1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament it's perm any two from three when it comes to Xavier, Kansas and Duke.
The expectation here is that Kansas falls to the #2 line, but an early exit from the ACC Tournament might well be enough to upset that.
