Jazz stay hot in victory
The Utah Jazz continued their push towards the play-offs on Monday, as the hosts defeated the Orlando Magic 94-80 at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City.
Leading the way for the Jazz was Rudy Gobert, as the 25-year old center from Saint-Quentin, Aisne, France had 21 points while pulling down 17 rebounds for a double-double for the contest as all five Utah starters were in double figures.
Gobert has been a massive key for the Jazz since coming back from injury, as the Jazz are 15-4 since his return.
Utah, 7/1 to win the Northwest Division, has won three in a row and 15 of their past 17 games, but are still in 10th place in the Western Conference standings. The Jazz are one and half games behind the eighth placed Denver Nuggets.
Monday's hosts are also only four games behind the Portland Trail Blazers, who are in third, ensuring the Western Conference race will be a wild one to the end.
Nikola Vucevic led the way for the Magic in defeat, as the 27-year old center from Morges, Switzerland had a team high 15 points while pulling down 12 rebounds and passing out three assists for a double-double for the game.
Orlando is tied for the worst record in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 20-44 on the season and the Magic have only won two of their past 10 games.
Orlando will travel to Southern California to square off with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday after seeing their two-game winning streak come to an end.
Meanwhile Utah will head to Indianapolis to face the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday in the opening contest of a trip that will also take in the Memphis Grizzlies and the New Orleans Pelicans.
