Cubs double up the Cardinals
The Chicago Cubs will go in search of a three-game sweep over the St. Louis Cardinals when the two clubs play the finale of their series at Busch Stadium on Sunday.
The visitors were too strong for the Cardinals on Saturday as they followed Friday's 13-5 hammering with a 6-3 triumph.
Addison Russell and Jason Heyward each went deep the Cubs to help Kyle Hendricks (5-6) to the win.
The 28-year old former Dartmouth star went six innings for Chicago conceding three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three.
Sunday Jose Quintana will be on the hill for the Cubs. The Colombian left-hander has already faced St. Louis once this season, losing in early May during Chicago's previous visit to town.
Quintana was roughed up in April and his ERA of 4.09 still reflects that poor opening to the campaign.
The Cubs have won the left-handers last two starts although Quintana did not figure in either decision.
Meanwhile over in Milwaukee the Brewers will look to take their series against the Philadelphia Phillies after splitting the first two games on Friday and Saturday.
Milwaukee routed the visitors on Friday by the score of 13-2 only to see the Phillies bounce back and defeat their hosts 4-1 on Saturday.
Chase Anderson will be on the mound for the Brew Crew on Sunday as they look to maintain their slim lead over the Cubs in the National League Central Division standings.
The Cubs are 10/13 to win Sunday's tussle, with the Cardinals 11/10.
