Radwanska progresses in Shenzhen
Agnieszka Radwanska remains on course to win the Shenzhen Open for the second year in a row after crushing Sorana Cirstea to reach the quarter-finals.
The Polish player eased to a 6-0 6-3 victory in an hour and 19 minutes to set up a last-eight encounter with the American player Alison Riske, who she beat in last year's final.
Radwanska said after her victory: "I think I was playing much better today, more confident and everything was smoother on court and that's why the score was like that.
"I have known Sorana for a long time, since junior days, so of course it's different than when you play someone for the first time.
"The first set I was a bit lucky - it could have been a totally different score - and in the important moments I was taking my chances, and didn't let go. At the beginning of the second set I lost some concentration, but it's good that I came back."
Meanwhile, Riske thrashed Tsvetana Pironkova 6-1 6-1 and the number three seed Johanna Konta recovered from a set and 3-1 down to defeat Vania King, eventually prevailing 1-6 6-3 6-2.
The British number one won five games in a row to take the second set before finishing King off in the decider.
Radwanska is 1/7 to beat Riske while she is 20/1 to win the Australian Open outright.
