New Wakefield Trinity signing Pauli Pauli says he'd be open to switching positions in the weeks ahead, but he admits that the transition may take some time.

Pauli has made a big impact at Wakefield since joining during the close season from Newcastle Knights in the NRL.

He has arrived at the club as a prop forward, but head coach Chris Chester has already hinted that he may choose to utilise him in the second row in the future.

"I know that there have been some conversations about me moving positions. I just need to lose some weight first. The coaching staff want me to drop a few kilos before I start playing back-row. Until then, I'll be playing front-row," said Pauli, who reserved praise for team-mate Tom Johnstone, following the winger's hat-trick in the win over Hull KR on Friday night.

"Tom is an awesome player. He has just come back from injury and it is good to see a young fella come back and play like he did. Congratulations to him and hopefully he does that every week."

And Pauli says that he is enjoying life in the Super League, as the team prepares for Friday evening's home fixture against Salford Red Devils

"It was a good way to start. It is good to play with the boys in Super League," he added.

"It is different to the NRL and it was a great experience. It was good to see the boys doing well and hopefully we will move on from here."

Wakefield are 80/1 to win the Grand Final this season.
