Holbrook keen to continue winning run

Justin Holbrook is confident his St Helens side can continue their strong start to the Super League season on Friday against Salford.

Saints are unbeaten so far in 2018, claiming wins over Castleford, Catalans and Huddersfield to take top spot in the early standings and are 1212/1 to win the Grand Final.

Friday sees them welcome the Red Devils who broke their duck last time out with a 36-12 win over Hull KR.

Following a period in the doldrums, Salford made the play-offs last term and appear to be heading in the right direction under Ian Watson.

The boys are working hard and are getting the rewards.

It means Saints can expect a tough encounter in what could prove to be a tricky March schedule, with Warrington, Leeds and Wigan all on the agenda before the end of the month.

This game last season saw Holbrook's men mount a remarkable comeback, with three tries in the final seven minutes helping them snatch a 25-24 win.

The Australian admits he has been pleased by how his side have carried their good pre-season work into the campaign and is confident they can maintain their form on Friday.

"We know they are a good team," Holbrook said. "They played well last week to beat Hull KR and did the week before too. They are a tough side to face and we understand that.

"We've made a good start and we're happy with that but know there is a long way to go. Friday's game was another tough one and we came away with an important win.

"I was happy with our pre-season and we are continuing that hard work now. The boys are working hard and are getting the rewards."
