RSA aim for Monalee
Henry De Bromhead is aiming for next week's RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival with Monalee, although he admits the JLT Novices' could be on the agenda if the ground goes against him.
Officials at Cheltenham on Sunday changed the going to soft, good to soft in places, although De Bromhead will be biding his time before altering any plans.
Monalee has impressed in his novice chasing campaign despite coming to grief at Leopardstown over Christmas. He was back at the Foxrock track last month for a game success during the Dublin Racing Festival and his trainer is very happy with him now.
"We'd be leaning towards the RSA on what you would call normal Festival ground," De Bromhead told Racing UK.
"That would be our preference, but if it came up soft or heavy, maybe we'd start looking at the JLT a little bit more. We'll see what way the ground is nearer the time, but at the moment our preference would be the RSA."
Monalee is 10/3 to win the RSA Chase, while previous Festival winner Presenting Percy is 5/2 for trainer Pat Kelly.
De Bromhead, meanwhile, has also declared himself more than happy with Petit Mouchoir ahead of his run in the Arkle on Tuesday.
He was second to the Willie Mullins-trained Footpad last month at Leopardstown on his first start since October and De Bromhead is hoping he'll improve on that run.
"I was happy with Petit Mouchoir in Leopardstown (second to Footpad in Irish Arkle). It was a matter of trying to get him to the race, which we did, and he ran well. I hope he'll come on for the run," he added.
Footpad is 5/6 to win the Arkle at Cheltenham, with Petit Mouchoir available at 4/1.
