Tiger tipped to roar
Reinsman Todd McCarthy expects Tiger Tara to be in the mix when he contests the Victoria Cup on Saturday night.
Gary Hall snr's Chicago Bull looks the one to beat, but after landing a favourable draw directly outside him in barrier two, McCarthy is in a bullish mood.
McCarthy said he was "really happy" with last Saturday's fast finishing second placing behind stablemate Majordan, and is confident he can go well again on a bigger stage.
"He's always been pretty lucky through these big races with his draw and I think that's probably helped us out a bit," McCarthy said. "He always seems to show up in the big races and hopefully he's thereabouts on Saturday."
When quizzed over whether he charge can find the front, he added: "I think on the bigger tracks he's not as quick as some of the really fast horses off the gate, but when it comes back to the 1000m (Melton) and half-mile tracks, like in Perth, he seems to have a bit more gate speed.
"If he gets out the best he can he's a good chance to being able to hold up, but in saying that there is a ton of speed off the front there. We will just have to do our best early and see where we end up."
Meanwhile, David Aiken's Im The Boss, who will start from gate four, immediately outside Chicago Bull, has it all to do according to reinsman Greg Sugars.
"We've probably got a tough ask from where we are and what needs to happen in the run, but if I can get up in the money I'll be rapt," he said.
