Pizzuto makes Tiger Tara call
Trainer Kevin Pizzuto has decided against sending Tiger Tara for a spell after his stable star won last week's Renshaw Cup.
Following Tiger Tara's blistering display, Pizzuto has reconsidered his schedule, and says the wet conditions have also played a part with his decision.
"After he did so well at Penrith I was in two minds as to whether spell him or keep him going," Pizzuto said. "Given the place where I spell my horses is too wet and I didn't want him to get hurt, I decided to keep him in a little longer.
"He will have two more starts over the next two weekends, then I will give him a break."
As such, Tiger Tara is engaged in the Sydney Cup at Bankstown, where he has drawn barrier six - the outside of the front line.
Successful at his last four starts, the son of Bettors Delight is the one to beat over 2140 metres.
"He had a couple of light days after Penrith and he feels fantastic," Pizzuto said. "He's racing in super form and will be hard to beat again."
After his postponed spell Tiger Tara will be aimed at the Len Smith Mile at Tabcorp Park Menangle on 25th June, with the Sunshine Sprint and The Black A Fake at Albion Park the following next fortnight.
"I'm definitely setting him for the Len Smith Mile and the Queensland races," Pizzuto said. "After that he will have another beak before I set him for the Perth Inter Dominion in November."
