Kung Fu aimed at Chariots Of Fire
Jilliby Kung Fu is bang on course for the Chariots Of Fire following an impressive win in the Four-Year-Old Bonanza at Tabcorp Park, Melton.
Under the guidance of reinsman Jason Lee, Jilliby Kung Fu scored by a metre from Stars Align, who had earlier set the pace, with Motu Meteor a metre-and-a-half away third.
"He's really grown into himself," Lee said. "Ever since we purchased him at the APG Sales we've always thought he would be a nice horse and he's gotten better with age.
"He's come back this year with a bit more weight on him and he's definitely taken another step."
The Marg Lee-trained son of Four Starzzz Shark, who was also successful in last season's Group One Vicbred Final, will now head to Menangle, for the Chariots Of Fire, and she could not be happier with his condition.
"Getting straight in to the Chariots Of Fire is terrific," Marg said. "I'll just keep him going along at home before we head up for that."
Meanwhile, the victory also means interest in Slip Slop Slap at the Australian Pacing Gold Sale in Melbourne on Sunday night is sure to intensify.
The dam of Jilliby Kung Fu, who now boasts six wins from seven starts, was always going to attract attention at the sale, but the number of bidders is now sure to grow.
