Jambiani produces another shock win
Jambiani caused another boilover at Gloucester Park on Friday night when winning the Howard Porter Memorial Pace (2130m).
The seven-year-old was victorious at the WA track on 28th July, but caused his biggest upset yet when winning at huge odds two weeks ago.
Punters ignored that run, but will wish they hadn't as Jambiani scored by a half-head from Run Oneover, with Simply Susational running a close third.
The hot favourite Chicago Bull, having his first race for almost two months, finished fourth, but will improve for the run.
With Shannon Suvaljko in the sulky, Jambiani settled in sixth position after starting from gate four in the Porter Memorial, before unleashing a strong late burst to nab pacemaker Run Oneover in final strides.
The win, at a 1:53.8 rate, boosted Jambinai's prospects of being selected to contest the Inter Dominion Championship qualifying heats in Perth in November and December.
Despite another upset, trainer Ross Olivieri refused to get carried with the win, saying: "He jagged it a fortnight ago. I reckon he's jagged it again tonight."
Beaten favourite Chicago Bull is a leading fancy for the Inters and can be expected to improve sharply on Friday night's unplaced run, where he failed to make up the ground in the home run.
