Hectorjayjay fighting for career
Connections of Hectorjayjay have been hit by the news the ligament injury he suffered is more serious than first thought and he faces a huge battle to return to racing.
The news of a potential injury to Hectorjayjay broke last week, and ever since then speculation has been rife suggesting it is a serious one.
Unfortunately that has now turned out to be the case, and if Hectorjayjay is to make it back to racing, it will take a long time, part owner Mick Harvey has said.
"I spoke the vet today. The nearside leg is OK, but the offside suspensory ligament will take a long time to come good," Harvey revealed.
"Treatment starts today. We will leave no stone unturned and give him every chance to make it back."
An injury of such a nature is never good, but the timing of this one is particularly cruel, coming just weeks after one of the best wins of his career.
That win came against a hot field in the Group One Blacks A Fake at Albion Park, and everything looked on course for the Victoria Cup, before injury struck.
Last season Hectorjayjay raced 17 times for 12 wins, two seconds and $635,823 in earnings, while his overall record sits at 79 starts for 42 wins, 21 placings and $1,143,907.
Now the question is, will he get the chance to add to that. Connections will certainly give him every chance to do so.
