Concerns grow for Hectorjayjay
Connections of Hectorjayjay have been hit by the news his latest comeback could be over just one run after it began.
Hectorjayjay was sidelined for almost a year with a suspensory ligament issue following his career-best Group 1 Blacks A Fake win at Albion Park last July.
His injury problems looked to be behind him once and for all after he returned with a sparkling win at Kilmore last Saturday and many tipped him to become Australia's top pacer.
However, it has now been confirmed the multiple Group 1 winner has 'an issue' after he was pulled out action at Melton tonight, but the full extent of the injury has yet to be revealed.
Managing owner Matt McLellan admits they need to know more before commenting further and deciding where they head to next.
"I'm away in England on holidays, but I can confirm there is an (injury) issue, but we don't know the full extent as yet," he said.
"Gavin (Lang, trainer-driver) has scratched him from this week's race and we want to find out more about the issue before making any longer term decisions."
Lang was always cautious when talking future plans, noting the significance of any suspensory ligament injury and it looks as though he was right to not get carried away.
Connections and supporters of Hectorjayjay will now be keeping their fingers crossed it is nothing serious.
