Trainer Emma Stewart could not be happier after Shadow Sax landed the perfect draw in the South Australia Cup at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night.
Shadow Sax remains unbeaten from six starts for the term, and looks in good shape to improve on that following the barrier drawn.
To be driven by Gavin Lang Shadow Sax had landed barrier five, but will jump from four with the removal of the emergency, and Stewart could not be happier.
Stewart is also delighted with the condition of Shadow Sax and believes the five-year-old can add the Group One to his ever-growing list of credentials.
"It's a good draw for him," Stewart said. "From there he will be going forward and having a look for the lead. He's also proven he can do a bit of work in his races, so there are options from that draw.
"He's been freshened up since winning the Geelong Cup last month and had a solid trial at Ballarat last week, so he's in great shape for this."
Group 2 winner Messini, who will begin from barrier 11, is the one to beat according to Stewart, although Major Crocker is seen as the biggest threat among the locals.
Drawn the outside of the second row, Major Crocker won in his first outing for five weeks, last week, and is expected to improve after that outing.
