An pair of wins at Tabcorp Park Melton has put Wrappers Delight in good stead for a tilt at next week's Victoria Cup.
The Australian Pacing Gold purchase followed up his victory over 2240m on 29th September by landing Saturday's $50,000 Smoken Up Sprint (1720m).
David Aiken's horse edged out Shadow Sax by 0.2 lengths, with Ameretto in third for trainer/driver Kerryn Manning.
It was his fifth win in his eight races since he came to Aiken last June, and he's been second in the other three.
It's put Wrappers Delight on course to emulate another of Aiken's horses, Lennytheshark, who was Australia's premier pacer over three years and has recently been retired to stud.
He's already done so in one respect, having won the Vicbred Super Series Final last year which Lennytheshark also did for Aiken.
The trainer said: "He has a long way before he can be compared to Lenny, but he's a nice replacement. That said, he's heading in the right direction.
"Whether he can reach the kind of heights Lenny did only time will tell and we will certainly find out in the next couple of months."
Wrappers Delight will head to the Victoria Cup before contesting the Inter Dominion in December.
Aiken said: "Lenny won those races so if Wrappers Delight can do the same I might think about a comparison."
The son of Bettor's Delight led the Smoken Up Sprint throughout from barrier three, rating 1:52.5 over 1720m.
Aiken said Wrappers Delight had made the most of a good draw, and was racing in top form.
