Godolphin's head trainer James Cummings believes Kementari has what it takes to give super mare Winx a run for her money on Saturday afternoon.
Winx lines up in the race named after her, the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Randwick, and Cummings has confirmed that his star Kementari will also run.
The four-year-old will go into the race second-up after a narrow defeat at the hands of Pierata in the Group 2 Missile Stakes at Randwick on 4th August and Cummings expects him to run Winx close.
"We have great respect for all the opposition in the race but when it does come down to it, we just feel like he is a sporting chance of giving Winx a scare," Cummings told reporters.
"I'd always forecast that he was going to be significantly better second-up, he loves the 1400m, he races terrific at Randwick and coming off his gallops on Tuesday we just had to give ourselves the opportunity so we decided to accept this morning.
"He worked like the best horse we have in the stable yesterday morning. He's thriving."
Meanwhile, Cummings also noted the significant impact that ending Winx's 25 winning streak would have on Kementari's potential stud value.
"I think it is fair to say that a colt that has his stallion profile already, if he was able to pull off the impossible, the impact of that would be astronomical," he added.
"Running well against her, as we saw in the George Ryder, doesn't dampen the enthusiasm of mare owners that are interested in the horse in the future."
Winx is 13/50 to win the race named after her, with Kementari available at 5/1.
