Bottas revels in Mercedes deal
Valtteri Bottas has revealed his delight after putting pen to paper a new deal that will see him once again race for Mercedes in 2018.
The Finnish driver was handed a one-year deal upon his arrival with the Silver Arrows and was tasked with proving his worth to compete with three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Bottas has done just that and, after two wins this season, finds himself in third place in the Drivers' Championship behind Hamilton and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.
Having agreed a new one-year contract, Bottas was admitted he is delighted to get the deal over the line.
"When the team hired me for the 2017 season, they took a leap of faith by putting their trust in my skills," said Bottas.
"This new contract shows that I've earned that trust."
Meanwhile Mercedes chief Toto Wolff was also pleased to get the deal completed and feels Bottas is fully deserving of his fresh terms.
He said: "Bottas' upward trajectory made it a no-brainer for us to continue with him into 2018.
"The chemistry and dynamic between Valtteri and Lewis works and are what we need to take the fight to our competitors."
Bottas is 80/1 to win the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend, while Hamilton is 10/1 to take the chequered flag.
