Forward Thomas Muller took the plaudits after his double inspired Bayern Munich to a 5-0 thrashing of Besiktas in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
The 28-year-old Germany international has struggled for goals so far this season, but delivered his most effective performance at just the right moment to help Bayern make almost certain of a place in the quarter-finals.

Head coach Jupp Heynckes said after a near-perfect evening in the Allianz Arena: "It's interesting to watch these players and see how they prepare for games. It's extreme with Thomas, because he knows exactly how special the Champions League is when you need special performances.
"If he hadn't been injured for five weeks, he would have scored a lot more goals this season. He's not only a strong performer, he motivates others and is a very important player in our system.
"With his speed and reactions, he's often in the right place and that makes him unique. That's Muller, the true Muller."
Meanwhile, Muller himself felt that he and his side had delivered exactly the result needed to ensure that the return leg in Turkey does not become too tricky.
He added: "It's a superb result with regard to the return leg. We knew we had to deliver, because it will be a different game altogether in Turkey."
Bayern can be backed at 1/3 to win the second leg against Besiktas and are 8/1 to do so by a 2-0 scoreline, with the Bundesliga champions 12121/1 to go all the way and win the Champions League this season.
