Mourinho slams United complacency
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has criticised his side for taking their foot off the gas against Basel despite a 3-0 Champions League victory for the Red Devils.
Goals from Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford gave the Premier League giants a comfortable victory however it was not all smiles from the United manager come the full-time whistle.
Mourinho felt his side starting showboating when they were two goals to the good and the Portuguese tactician has demanded his side be more ruthless in the future.
He told BT Sport: "Until 2-0 we were stable, we played with confidence.
"After 2-0 everything changed, we stopped playing seriously and stopped making right decisions."
He added: "We could have put ourselves in trouble.
"We were playing fantasy football, Playstation football. I don't like it - flicks and tricks.
"We gambled and you have to respect your opponent. I don't know if goal difference will play a part."
Next up for United is the arrival of Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
United are currently available at 1/3 to win, 17/4 to draw and 10/1 to lose to the Toffees this weekend at Old Trafford where former skipper Wayne Rooney could be set for a return following his move to Everton over the summer.
