Klopp keeping troops grounded

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says there are no guarantees they will progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League as they prepare to host Spartak Moscow on Wednesday.

A draw against the Russian outfit at Anfield in their final group match would be enough to put them through to the last 16, while a victory would ensure they top the pool.

However the former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp, who has plenty of Champions League experience is taking nothing for granted.

"We are only part of the Champions League because we want to go to the next round," he said.

"All good and bad things that happened in the Champions League - mostly good - has brought us to this situation and if we win we are through and that is cool.

"I know a lot of people might think we should be already through but that's not life, it is not 'if' and 'when' it is about the moment."

He added: "You don't have guarantees in life but if you don't try all you get nothing so let's try all and we will see where it leads us to."

Liverpool are 1/5 to win, 7/1 to draw and 14/1 to lose to Spartak on Merseyside.
