Buffon hails Real as the best

Veteran Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes his side will be facing the best team in the world in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Juve play host to holders Real Madrid on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their last-eight clash - with the two sides having met in the Champions League final last season, when the Spaniards roared to a 4-1 victory in Cardiff.

No team is invincible, but they are a very complicated team to beat.

And Buffon expects to be severely tested once again at the Juventus Stadium, although the hosts go into the game having not lost a game since mid-November.

He told Marca: "Real Madrid are a better team than Juve. I don't say it, history says it. Their track record, numbers.

"I believe that winning the Champions League is still a dream, although it will be very difficult for it to come true. We can compete with Real Madrid, but they've always shown that they have something special, different.

"What makes them different? Well, they are the best team in the world by far. Does anyone doubt it? Winning three Champions Leagues in the last four years says it all.

"They are No.1 and no-one can argue with that. Are this Real Madrid invincible in Europe? No. No team is invincible, but they are a very complicated team to beat."

Prior to their defeat last May, Juve had only lost one of their previous seven meetings with Real, claiming four wins and two draws in that series of games.

La Vecchia Signora are 19/10 to win the game on Tuesday evening and are 23/10 to claim a draw, with the Italian outfit 2/1 to reach the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Real.
