Nainggolan happy with Roma stay

Belgium international midfielder Radja Nainggolan says he was never truly tempted to leave Roma this summer, having signed a new four-year contract.

The 29-year-old has spent the last three-and-a-half years in the Eternal City, helping Roma finish in the top three in Serie A in each of the last three seasons.

I am happy where I am.

His form had sparked talk of interest from clubs in both England and Spain, but, having settled his long-term future with the Giallorossi, Nainggolan says he is not at the stage of his career where he needs to move on.

He told the official AS Roma website: "It's important for me to live well.

"I am happy where I am and the idea of moving elsewhere at my age to have an experience that lasts a few years was frankly not of interest.

"I proved what I always wanted. Last year there weren't many talks for this renewal, but once we started discussing it, we got there straight away and I'm very happy with how things went.

"This has been a strong squad for a couple of years now. Players come and go, but these are issues for the club, all I can say is that the team has always been competitive."

Roma, who are now under the charge of former player Eusebio Di Francesco, have already made a number of moves into the transfer market, with Aleksandar Kolarov, Maxime Gonalons, Cengiz Under and Hector Moreno among the players recruited.

They can be backed at 12121/1 to win Serie A next season, with AC Milan available at 12121/1 and Inter Milan 12121/1.
