Milan's failings frustrate Gattuso

Gennaro Gattuso is exasperated by the way his AC Milan side have failed to string a good run of results together.

The Rossoneri spent heavily in the summer on the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Andre Silva, Andrea Conti and Hakan Calhanoglu but are still only eighth in the Serie A table and struggling once again to qualify for the Champions League.

Vincenzo Montella was sacked last month after a sequence of only two wins in nine games but there has been no sign of improvement since Gattuso replaced him.

Gattuso said: "The problem with this team is not how it works. There is experience from some of the older players, who with an extra word can fix positioning issues.

"But at the first sign of difficulty this squad disappears from the game. You can see it from the footage, they just lose their way.

"Every time we allow the opposition to come forward, we look ready to concede at any moment. As soon as we get stretched out, all our weaknesses are on show.

"Every now and then we don't seem to play as a team. That [cohesion] is lacking."

Milan are 8/1 to finish in the top four in Serie A in 2017/18 and 1212/1 to win the Europa League.
