Allegri supports misfiring Dybala

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has backed skipper Paulo Dybala to build on a goalscoring display in the 2-0 Coppa Italia win over Genoa.

Dybala started the season in superb form with 12 goals in his first eight games, however, since then he had scored just twice more in 16 further outings before finding the net on Wednesday evening.

He doesn't need to prove himself in every single game, as that only increases the pressure.

Allegri, though, says he was not too concerned by the struggles of the Argentinian forward, who he believes has been performing well without converting his play into goals.

He told the Italian media: "Dybala put in a good performance. We all want him to get back to being Dybala, as he's an extraordinary player.

"He needed a good performance, but above all a goal, as it can help him find some calm and confidence, but it's not as if he ever truly lost his way.

"Dybala just has to focus on doing the simple things. He doesn't need to prove himself in every single game, as that only increases the pressure. He should play as he did here."

Juve, who have won the Italian league title in each of the last six seasons, are currently locked in a four-way struggle for Lo Scudetto this term, with Napoli, Inter Milan and Roma also in the shake-up.

And Juve play host to Roma on Saturday in a massive clash between two of the title contenders.

Last season this fixture ended 1-0 to the hosts, with Gonzalo Higuain scoring the only goal of the game 14 minutes in at the Juventus Stadium.

The Bianconeri are 7/10 to win the game on Saturday, with Higuain 10/11 to score at any time, while Dybala can be backed at 6/5.
