Long-serving Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he will soon announce whether he intends the stay with the club beyond the end of the season.

Wenger took charge of the Gunners way back in October 1996, but his current contract runs out this summer, although he has been offered a new two-year deal.

I know what I will do so you will know very soon.

However, questions about his future have been raised in light of some poor recent results, with a 3-1 Premier League defeat at West Brom making is six losses in nine games in all competitions.

And the Frenchman told the assembled media that an answer would soon be forthcoming, saying: "I know what I will do so you will know very soon. You will see.

"We are in a unique bad patch like we've never had in 20 years where we lose game after game at the moment and that is much more important than my future.

"I think we are short of confidence, but I don't think it's an attitude problem.

"We have a big fight and it will be very difficult now (to finish in the top four), but there is no other way than fighting and going down to the last game of the season."

Arsenal are now available at 6/1 to finish in the top four in the Premier League, with Liverpool priced at 1/10 and Manchester United 1000/1.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are waiting to discover just how serious the ankle ligament injury sustained by star striker Alexis Sanchez at The Hawthorns proves to be.

Wenger added: "His ankle is in an absolutely terrible state. He should not have played in the second half, but he insisted.

"In the first half he created many dangerous situations, but in the second half he couldn't anymore, in the end we had to take him off."
