Kyle Walker said that Pep Guardiola had been influential in him deciding to move from Tottenham to Manchester City.

The England defender has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, to become the club's third signing of the summer following Bernardo Silva and Ederson Moraes.

He will wear the number two shirt for City and said that the prospect of playing for Guardiola had been crucial in his desire to move.

He told the club's official website: "I am thrilled to be signing for City and can't wait to get started.

"Pep Guardiola is one of the most respected managers in the world and I feel he can help me take my game to a new level."

It brings to an end Walker's eight years at White Hart Lane where he made 183 Premier League appearances for Spurs and during that time he has established himself as an England international, having so far won 27 caps for his country.

City decided to bring new players in at the end of last season following their failed title bid, ending Guardiola's first season at the club without silverware.

They released Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna so a new right back was inevitable and they have finally got their man, with Walker joining up with his new team-mates next week when they travel to the USA for a pre-season tour.

City, 10/11 to win the Premier League next season and 1/20 to finish in the top four, begin the new Premier League season away to newly promoted Brighton & Hove Albion. They are 3/10 for the win with the Seagulls 10/1 and the draw priced at 5/1.
