Wagner excited at relegation fight

David Wagner says that the relegation fight is interesting and exciting and should stay that way right through to the end of the season.

The Huddersfield boss takes his team to West Brom on Saturday in a match that could have a huge bearing on who drops down to the Championship at the end of the season.

We will have the supporters behind us and we want to show the best performance we can.

The Baggies are in the most trouble, sitting bottom of the Premier League table seven points from safety while the Terriers, buoyed by the win over Bournemouth two weeks ago, are a point and a place above the bottom three.

The congested nature of the bottom half of the table is highlighted by the fact that Huddersfield could finish the weekend second bottom or they could be as high as 13th depending on the result on Saturday.

That makes it exciting for the neutrals but also for the Terriers according to Wagner.

He told a press conference ahead of the trip to the Hawthorns: "We are really playing for something and it's great to be involved in.

"We will have the supporters behind us and we want to show the best performance we can.

"Now the interesting and exciting period starts; from now until the end of the season. It'll decide who can reach their targets but right now we are only focused on West Brom."

West Brom are 17/20 to win on Saturday with Huddersfield 4/1 and the draw priced at 5/2.

Wagner also told the press conference that it was a good time to be meeting West Brom especially after winning at home to Bournemouth last time out.

The Terriers will be without Aaron Mooy for the weekend and Wagner said it was doubtful whether he will be fit to face Tottenham on 3rd February.

Huddersfield are 3/10 to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
