Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner expects new signing Alex Pritchard to prove to be a valuable addition to his Terriers squad.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has joined Town for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League new boys.

It's been a while since I've wanted to play in the Premier League and now my chance has come.

And the former Tottenham Hotspur youngster is highly thought of by Wagner, whose side are currently in 11th place in the Premier League table, ahead of a Saturday showdown with West Ham.

Wagner told the club's official website: "He is exactly the type of player that we like to work with at this club. Alex is a young, British player who arrives as one of the top performers in the Championship and with a desire to prove himself in the Premier League.

"Now we will work hard with him to give him every possibility of being a success for us in the top division."

Pritchard had been with Norwich since the summer of 2016 and was hampered in the early part of the current campaign by a knee injury.

However, having overcome that issue, Pritchard is relishing a chance to feature again in the top-flight, having last done so in March 2016 while on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

He added: "It's been a while since I've wanted to play in the Premier League and now my chance has come.

"I think Huddersfield Town will be the right club. I've spoken to the coach a couple of times now - the way they play football and with the togetherness of the team, I think it's the perfect fit for me."

The Terriers are available at 5/1 to be relegated this season and are 1/8 to beat the drop, while they can be backed at 250/1 to finish in the top half of the table.
